We home check EVERY adoption we carry out to ensure it is the best place for both our animals and the adoptive family. We are not looking for extremely rich, pristine mansions with acres of garden... we are looking for a home full of love, that is secure and understanding with the right atmosphere for our animals. We DO adopt out to people without gardens and with children, but it is assessed on each individual animals needs and suitability. There is NO upper age limit but you must be 18 and over to adopt. During the home check we will have an informal chat whilst filling out paperwork to get a real feel for the family and their needs, as well as if they can meet the needs of the animal to ensure a successful adoption for everyone.
The adoption fee must be paid on the day of adoption. For adoption fees we accept direct bank transfers, card payments, PayPal or cash. All of our animals come, microchipped, treated for parasites (fleas, worms and ticks), vaccinated and neutered where medically possible. Puppies and kittens come with a neutering clause in the adoption contract meaning the adopter MUST have them neutered when approved by a vet to do so.
Prices:
Dogs: £300
Puppies: £400
Cats: £150
Kittens: £150
Terms & Conditions:
We reserve the right to fail home checks based on our assessments. If adoption fees are not paid we will not leave the animal in the new home. If due to any reason you have to give the animal up in the future, the animal MUST be returned to Broken Souls Rescue NOT sold. If a family member is able to take the animal we will need to be informed beforehand and will carry out a new home check. Adopters must keep up with flea and worm prevention treatments and vaccinations. If the rescue at any time feels the animal is not being treated properly or the home is unsuitable we will remove the animal from your care. All adoption fees are non refundable from moment of payment.
Smurfy
Age: 7 years old (approx)
Gender: Neutered Male
Breed: Tibetan Mastiff X
Medical: None.
Behaviour: Good basic obedience. All around lovely family dog. Can be bolshy and strong on lead but this is mainly because of unsettlement at his last home. In a good routine in a loving home he is a very well behaved dog.
Likes: People, playing ball, squeaky toys, tug of war, belly rubs, long walks and cuddles!
Dislikes: NO cats, small pets or small dogs.
Other Notes: Has lived with other dog(s) and children but would suit a quieter rural life or somewhere he can have long walks everyday in the countryside.
Stella
Age: approx 8-9 years
Gender: Female
Breed: SBT
Medical: Stella requires possibly lifelong eye drops and ointments to keep the blood vessels behind her eyes in working order. to stop her from going blind! Stella has IBD and requires a strict veterinary diet and specific treats only. Stella also has some arthritis and is on YuMove supplements. Any potential adoptive family need to be committed to continuing her medical treatments and the financial implications of this for life.
Behaviour: Stella has fantastic behaviour inside and outside the house including basic obedience and recall. She needs to stay on her diet to avoid toilet accidents.
Likes: Stella loves long walks across the hills and on the beach. She also loves cuddles and fuss!
Dislikes: Toys... Stella is completely oblivious to toys having never had any! we have tried but she shows no interest. No cats or small animals. Prefer a quiet child free household in her older years.
Other notes: Out on walks Stella s not reactive to other dogs but she also shows no interest. Whilst in foster she has been on holiday and lived with another dog but she did not enjoy this and needs to be the only dog in the home.
Age: 4 years
Gender: Female (to be spayed by us before adoption)
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Medical: Skin tag on leg that will be vetted soon. Under weight/emaciated. Standard Parasite treatment.
Behaviour: Roo is the sweetest and most appreciative and loving dog. She is desperate to please and be a good girl. She needs a crate as her "safe space" with blankets on to create a cave like space for her. Roo has settled into her foster home which has a resident cat (she has shown no interest) and a small pack of sanctuary dogs and she has been perfectly behaved. We are working on her toilet training.
From her Foster Mummy: Despite Roos history she is the most loveable sweet soul who just wants to be loved. She has shown no signs of any reactivity but will cower and shake if loud noises or scared . She loves to climb onto your lap and cuddle into your neck . Roo is a little diamond . She does not counter surf, or bin raid . She is also non destructive and able to be left alone for periods. Due to her history she is now learning house training ( toilet ) but has been used to being caged and going where she is so some accidents are expected . She sleeps all night, and happy to put herself into bed and stay until the morning when she will greet you with so so much love . Walks : roo will initially pull on leash when leaving the home . But once out , will settle into your gait of walk perfectly . She is non reactive to people or other dogs out, but again due to her history hasn’t been walked so will like to stop and stare at the going’s on around her . Other pets: Roo has proven completely bomb proof with other resident dogs, and has now been introduced to the resident cat and has shown no interest. She is a very submissive and timid girl and would benefit from another dog in the home to help her overcome her past. Feeding : Roo is still very underweight and eating 4 small meals a day. She is a “foodie” ! So easily able to be trained further as she’s always eager to please . She has no resource guarding of food / toys or even bones !!! Play : roo is still learning how to play, she will take a ball but won’t chase it when thrown, and not sure what she’s supposed to do. She is unaware of squeaky toys and seems scared when they are around her. With time and patience I believe she will begins to learn how to have fun again
Likes: Roo loves fuss, affection, cuddles and praise.
Dislikes: Loud noises, squeaky toys (terrified) aggressive tones.
Other Notes: Roo came to us from a "home" where she had been used, abused and neglected to breed from. She was locked in a crate 24 hours per day so was messing on herself. She was starved and had not seen a vet in quite some time. Roo is slowly regaining weight and confidence. She needs a home that is full of love, peaceful environment and gentle people who can take the time to show her how special she is and help her become more confident in the world. She really is a special dog who will bring so much joy and love to the lucky family who adopt her.
Name: Zeus
Gender: Male (neutered)
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier (small)
Age: 1 year old
Medical: None
Dislikes: Rain & other dogs barking
Likes: EVERYTHING else!
Other Notes: Happy go lucky pup who is learning about boundaries. Good all rounder fun dog. Some quirks that we are working with currently (eg. walking on kitchen sideboards!) He can jump really high! More info to come. Fostered with other dogs and kids. Would advise kids 8+ only who are used to energetic dogs as he is bouncy jumps alot and loves fuss. Would say younger dogs only, NO senior dogs because he is full of energy and plays rough. Currently recovering from his neuter and doing some basic level agility training!
Age: 7 years
Breed: possibly Bengal X Tabby DSH
Gender: Male (neutered)
Medical Issues: Currently none. History of UTI's.
Likes: Wood Pellet Litter. Whiskas fish flavour pouches or gourmet. Playing, catnip, watching the birds. Snuggling under blankets. Fuss and cuddles.
Dislikes: Plastic litter, Children.
Other: Not road savvy at all, would suit an indoor only home or flat/apartment to live in with a secure catio or just a good window seat. Quiet home only. MUST be the only pet (no cats or dogs) in the household.
Name: Peanut
Age: approx 5-6 yrs
Gender: Male
Breed: DSH Cat
Medical: NONE see update below!
Behaviour: Peanut is an adorable cat who LOVES fuss and affection! HE is absolutely adorable and settles fairly quickly. He is reasonably confident.
Other Notes: Ideal home for Peanut would be indoor in a quieter household as the only cat so he can be doted on and spoiled rotten. Peanut was found as a stray in Moira, Derbyshire. He was already neutered but not microchipped. We believe he was left behind when his owners moved home.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Peanut had a second test and came up as negative! So he does NOT have FELV... we still advise him to be an indoor only cat and to be the only pet in the house because he loves cuddles and attention but we are pleased to announce a CLEAN BILL of HEALTH
